White Sage with a touch of Cedar
Smuding with White Sage has been used traditionally by the Native Americans and other indigenous people for centuries as part of a cleansing ritual. It is believed to safeguard against negativity. Some research suggests that sage contains compounds that could help ease insomnia and anxiety.
The Latin word for sage salvia stems from the word heal. Other qualities believed to be associated with sage when burned are giving wisdom, clarity, and increasing spiritual awareness.
Alittle information on 'smudging'
If you are wanting to smudge your home, make sure you first open a door or window beforehand so that negative energy has a way to leave your home.
Have a fire proof vessel, dirt or sand ready to extinguish your smudge stick for when you have finished smudging or sooner if need be.
Then decide what your mantra will be, is it for an unwanted spirit to leave? Do you want negative energy, thoughts etc to go? Once you have decided, then its time to light your smudge stick.
It is VERY IMPORTANT to be fully aware of your smudge stick and any falling embers.
Holding your smudge stick on an angle, light one end and let it burn for a about 15 seconds, gently & carefully blow out the flame so you just have orange embers, the smoke should start to billow outwards.
Start walking around your home/space repeating your mantra whilst guiding the smoke (and bad energy) towards your open door/windows. Make sure you 'smudge' well in corners, hallways, in front of mirors etc.
Stay aware of your smudge stick & any embers that may fall (stamp them out immediately).
To extinguish your sage, press firmly into your fire proof vessel, dirt or sand until smoke is no longer rising.
This information has been taken from a Google Search, there are many variations on how to do a smudging.
Do your own research prior to using these smudge sticks
